Varicose veins and their complications

    Varicose veins appear as swelling of the veins on the legs. Varicose veins are those unsightly purple, swollen appearance of the tumor, which are sometimes hereditary.Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged, located superficially under tegument.Often they develop in the legs and ankles.

   Varicose veins are abnormally dilated blood vessels, blue or purple, which come out the skin and have a tortuous course. Any vein may become varicose, but the most affected are those located in lower limbs. Most commonly formed on the back of the leg or front of legs, but can occur anywhere from ankle to groin.

   Veins below the heart shows from place to place some valves that allow the passage of blood in only one direction: toward the heart, thus preventing blood stagnation. When the vein walls lose elasticity and begin to dilate, the valves are away and lose their tightness. Blood is not forced to move, stagnates and creates a vicious circle expands and more veins which become varicose. Most affected are the superficial leg veins (saphena vein). It can locate the esophagus (esophageal varices-fagiene) and testis (Varicoceles).
